Jamie brings over 25 years of experience in community development and social enterprise leadership, having served as Chief Executive of Exeter City Community Trust since 2001. Throughout his career, he has led strategic initiatives and built partnerships that have delivered life-changing programmes across sport, education, health, and supported housing.
His journey into community leadership began after his early career as a professional footballer. Jamie went on to complete a Sport and Exercise Science Degree at Manchester University through the Professional Footballers' Association, and this transition from the playing field to community work has fundamentally shaped how he approaches empowerment and opportunity creation. Under his leadership, the Trust has driven numerous high-impact initiatives, from supported housing projects to educational partnerships with Exeter College, and the development of vital community facilities.
Collaboration, innovation, and a genuine commitment to social impact define Jamie's leadership style. As Chief Executive, he oversees senior leadership teams whilst ensuring strong connections between executive operations and governance. Creating environments where both staff and service users can thrive is central to his approach, built on supportive frameworks and person-centred practices.
Jamie is a driven, values-led professional who knows that meaningful community change doesn't happen by accident - it requires clear vision, strong partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to quality. He firmly believes that safe, affordable housing, when combined with comprehensive support services, gives people the solid foundation they need to transform their lives, gain independence, and make positive contributions to their communities. Since joining Granville Community Homes as a board member in December 2022, he has been a strong champion for the organisation's mission to provide housing solutions that truly change lives.
Away from work, Jamie is a keen runner and passionate advocate for sport and physical activity, understanding firsthand how vital health and wellbeing are to both personal development and building stronger communities.
